Check Your Admission Screening Score & The Chances of Securing Admission in 2017/18

Obviously, I guess Over the past few weeks, many JAMB candidates have asked us these questions endlessly.

Others have been all over the internet in search of how to determine their admission screening scores and ultimately know their chances of securing admission this year.

Well, that is not really a wrong thing to do. But the thing is that no one really knows the standard that will be used by schools to screen candidates this year.

It is true that JAMB disclosed last year that candidates admission screening scores will be determine by the UTME score and O'level grades of the candidates through the POINT GRADE SYSTEM, However, many schools employed point grade systems different from the one stipulated by JAMB.

Take For instance, in last year's admission screening exercise of Lagos State University (LASU), A1 in any of your O'level Subjects is equivalent to 10 points while the same A1 in University of Ibadan (UI) last year was equivalent to 6 points.

This may have been due to the differences in JAMB cut-off mark in these schools or for some other reasons not known to us.

So there is every possibility that schools will still use different standards this year unless some thing is done about it.

Now apart from this, there are other factors and policies that influence and ultimately determine who gets admission and who does not at the end of the day.

I made a detailed post on that last year. You can CLICK HERE to read up.

So do not think that your "perceived" admission screening score automatically qualifies you for admission in your school of choice.

This is not to discourage you but to ensure you are well informed and more importantly help you decide whether or not you still need a change of course or institution when JAMB enables the portal again. After all, if we do not keep you informed, who will?

See Why Admission Criteria Remain Unpredictable Even With the New JAMB Model

[This Post Was Picked from Myschool.com.ng. A Last Year Post. Dated 06-Jul-2016]
In this post, Staffs and Members of Myschool.com.ng aired their view on Why Admission Criteria Remain Unpredictable Even With the New JAMB Model.
According to them, Reactions and counter-reactions have been trailing the release of the new JAMB admission screening model, which is supposed to be a guideline for admitting students into tertiary institutions in the country.

What many do not know is that the admission process into Nigerian tertiary institutions has never been and will never be transparent or predictable as long as the current factors surrounding it remain.

What I mean is that even with the current JAMB admission model, you still cannot confidently tell if you are qualified or not qualified for admission this year.

Until the admission model becomes such that a candidate can confidently predict his or her admission before the admission list is released and it turns out so, then we still do not have a credible admission model.

What makes you even think that institutions will religiously follow this model without undue compromise? By the way, don’t mind my tone. I’m only trying to bare the situation in black and white.

JAMB has disclosed that institutions will only screen candidates sent to them by JAMB. The question is on what basis will JAMB determine the candidates to be sent to a particular institution? Don’t try to guess. The simple truth is that you don’t really know.

As long as factors like catchment area, educationally less developed States (ELDS), admission quota, and other subtle ones remain determinants of admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions, I don’t think the new JAMB admission model makes any substantive difference because at the end of the day you still won’t be able to determine or tell what factors qualified or disqualified you for admission as the case may be.

This has always been the situation in previous years, where by a candidate that scored above the required cut-off mark for a particular course is denied admission and another candidate that scored less is given admission into the same course. Do you think the new JAMB admission model will change any of that? No way! As long as the factors I mentioned earlier remain, nothing will change in that regard.

In most countries, tertiary institutions have their requirements, once you meet the requirements, your admission is as sure as death. It’s that simple. But you cannot say that about Nigeria. May be we will develop to that level with time when our institutions have developed the capacity to accommodate the teeming population of admission seekers yearly. But for now, the present reality remains.

If you are still wondering what I am driving at, let me spell it out; admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions as it stands is more like 50% effort and 50% game of luck.

So instead of breaking your head over what the new JAMB admission model means and does not mean, you should rather make sure you put in your own part of the 50% and then count on luck, influence or what my church folks will call divine favour to produce the other 50% for you.

[14/02/2017] - Peaceful but heavy protest by Auchi Poly Students - [See Details and Photos].

Peaceful but heavy protest by students of Auchi
Polytechnic Auchi has brought vehicular movement to an
abrupt stop at the ever busy Benin/Abuja express way, a
road linking the North and the south.
.
The students whose grievance was due to the continued
strike by the ASUP (Auchi poly chapter) due to an unpaid
arrears by the Federal govt, undue demotion, sack and
suspension of some lecturers alleged to be corrupt and
other factors which the lecturers are pushing on to be met
by Management and Federal govt of Nigeria.
.
Over two months now, academic activities in the school
has been epileptic and now, it has been grounded
totally following the strike action by lecturers of the
institution who are at loggerhead with the management
of the school and the Federal govt. over the sack of their
colleagues alleged to be corrupt, payment of arrears etc.
.
Trying to bring both the lecturers and the management
of the school to a round table discussion by the SUG
body proves abortive as the lecturers are more agitative
than ever. And the students who seems to be the most hit
by the tussles has now took to the Federal road carrying
out a peaceful protest with several inscriptions on their
placards, thereby sending signals to the appropriate
authorities to come to their aid as the tussles which
started since last year after the tenure of the previous
Rector has now be full blown, thereby frustrating
academic activities and stretching the academic calender
of the school.
The protest is peaceful, but the Federal road has been
blocked by the students thereby shutting movement for
about two hours now.
.
Last year's academic calender slided into this year due to
this same issue and many of the final year students are
still yet to be called for service due to late or no
registration for the NYSC scheme..........

✅SUNDAY PIDGIN ENGLISH PROGRAM......

TEN LESSONS FROM THE BIG BROTHER NAIJA.

The show has come and gone but the lessons learnt will remain indelible in our hearts...

1. Immorality has taken over the world. This one is confirmed from the way youths dey so engrossed in the immoral acts wey happen for the Big Brother House.
Married man, TTT dey kiss single mother Bisola.

2. As a man, if you nor fit control your sexual appetite, you go miss your race. Kemen na testimony.

3. We all nor get the same grace. When you touch the opposite sex without the person consent na very bad thing.
Kemen touch Tboss while she dey sleep, he was evicted, but Debie Rise kissed Bassey while he was asleep, she was celebrated. So, don't mitate your brother.

4. The power of the tongue can never be underestimated. Tboss allowed her tongue to pull her down. That simple words say she fit spend #25M in a week and she get private jet owners as toasters wey she nor gree for nai be the genesis of her downslide.
Mind your tongue.

5. To be handsome is one thing but not everything. E get where your beauty or handsomeness go carry you reach, grace go takeover. Miyonse lack that grace.

6. As you grow, there are some basic things you suppose to know even from your childhood.
Things like the name of our president, States and capital, national anthem, Lord's prayer, Psalm 121.
Even some pipo, you suppose to know dem if you see their picture or you see dem face to face. Important pipo like Prof Wole Soyinka, our president, Late Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama, Olusegun Obasanjo, etc. This one shows your identity as a Nigerian no matter where you dey. For one housemate to say she nor know Banky W, na error. Maybe, dem nor get TV.
Even our moslem brothers know the Lord's prayer. So learn cos na small shit dey stain yansh.

7. The street nai get any society. Street take over. Anyone wey like to blow, and gain positive recognition, must identify with the street.
Forget the first class pipo, dem nor get mouth. If the street say this na wetin e want, e go come to pass. Bisola and Efe dey the street and dem rep the street.

8. In every family, the fortune and fame of that family lies in the hands of one child. If that child nor pick, that family go remain poor. Check am, Efe family don upgrade.

The EVIL WICKED LANDLORD - One of the signs of END TIME

There was a block of six flat at Yaba area of
Lagos, Nigeria occupied by the Landlord and 5
tenants which include 2 bankers and 3
university lecturers...In fact the house belongs
for the rich. This house is very beautiful, but
there is something so strange about the house,
any tenant that moves into that house with
wealth, joy and properties, would always moves
out with nothing.. As a matter of fact, the latest
5 tenants that move into the house with cars
and wealth but within six months they have all
gone broke leaving with nothing.
One day, one of the lecturers called his friends
and told them something was going wrong at
his house but they laughed at him saying how
can a professor like you belief so much in
superstition. After several problems, the lecturer
on his own decide to come for prayer meeting
and God open his eyes and in this revelation, he
saw a well situated in the compound of the
house and God told him that is the source of his
affliction and bondage so he quickly rushed
down home to pour anointing oil into the well
and use bucket to bring out water, after the
third time, he felt something was in the bucket,
lo and behold, he looked into the bucket and
found a big tortoise and around that tortoise
was the names of the 5 tenants tied around the
tortoise with red thread.. The tortoise was
anointed and burnt down with prayers, starting
from the next day, things began to change for
those tenants in the house and began to re-
possessed their possession but before then,
they were getting poorer and the Landlord was
getting richer until when the Lord delivered
them from the hand of evil landlord. This is
happening everywhere, evil wicked landlord's
.
I decree, if that your present situation is as a
result of where you are living right now ,the Lord
will catapult you out and push you to the house
of your blessings and prosperity, Type Amen!!!!
Starting from 2017 ,all your evil enemies will die
or confess.
You shall not live in a wicked evil landlord house
Amen
Hit like and comment Amen
